REFLECTION PARK

In 2025, Mezuzah is planning to break ground on a neighborhood park in partnership with NW Goldberg Cares that will capture the past, present, and future of NW Goldberg like never before.

Historic landmarks like Olympia Stadium, Motown, and Lee Plaza are well known to the community, while stories of individuals like Curtis Jones, Louis Goldberg, and the former McMichael Middle School have only recently come to light. There are stories of coexistence and community building from when the neighborhood was a thriving Black and Jewish area, and there are stories of sadness and despair from the ‘67 riots and the decades of systemic oppression that followed.

Imma’s and Abba’s

In 2025, we expect construction to begin on a small Kosher market, Kosher coffee shop, and neighborhood community space.

Imma’s and Abba’s is a project for the community, with a Kosher twist.

Residents of NW Goldberg experience food insecurity. Further, Jewish Detroit residents experience a lack of access to Kosher meats and cheeses.

With a new, ingredient-Kosher coffee shop and a fully Kosher market, these projects solve the problems of the neighborhood community and city-wide Jewish community simultaneously.
